August West ‘Rosella Vineyard’ Pinot Noir  2014

Winery Tasting Notes: Aromas of ripe blackberries and cola. The deep and round palate is an explosion of various fruits including rip plums and berries. There’s plenty of acidity and tannins but the fruit is in the forefront of the mouthfeel.

Blend: 100% Pinot Noir
Alcohol Level: 14.3%
Maturity: Drink now – 2024
Winemaker: Ed Kurtzman.

Pairings: Bechamel macaroni and cheese with shaved truffle. Baked salmon with lemon,and dill sauce

Fun Facts: Ed Kurtzman has been making wine since 1994 where he got his start in the cellar at Bernardus in Carmel Valley, California under the guidance of Don Blackburn and Kirby Anderson. From 1995 through 1998 Ed moved across Monterey County to Chalone Vineyard where he was enologist and then assistant winemaker under Michael Michaud.  Ed had the good fortune of meeting future August West partners Howard Graham and John Peterson while he was winemaker at Testarossa for the vintages 1999-2002.
