2014 Turnpress “Deep Dark” Red Wine $14.95

(Paso Robles)

2014 Turnpress “Deep Dark” Red Wine $14.95

Winery Tasting Notes:
“In spite of the continuing California drought, grape growing conditions for the 2014 vintage were very good. The vintage provided an abundant and quality driven crop. Good-fortune years like this are a blessing, and the wines show good depth of character.

Grapes were destemmed directly to stainless steel tanks for temperature-controlled fermentation. The must was cold-soaked for two days before inoculation with yeast. The new wine was pressed-off at dryness.

Dark black cherry, brambly blackberry, vanilla, and cocoa aromas. Soft strawberry jam and juicy black fruit flavors combine in the mouth for a complex blend of fruit flavors. Tannins are soft and rounded with a rich, juicy mouthfeel.  The finish is smooth and warm, ending with a lacing of toasty vanilla.”

Winery Tasting Notes:
“The 2013 Sergio Dr. Reid Vineyard Malbec bursts from the glass with an intense nose of blueberry, huckleberry compote and white pepper. The dark fruit backbone is seamlessly integrated with a fascinating spice component and toasty oak. The silky tannins, voluminous mouthfeel and vibrant acidity are followed by a layer of sweet vanillin”

“Many people consider the Dr. Reid Vineyard in Coombsville the finest vineyard in all of Napa for Malbec. The 2013 Malbec Dr. Reid is the real deal, capable of challenging some of the high-elevation Malbec vineyards in Argentina. 2015 De Morgenzon “Reserve” Chenin Blanc $35.95

Winery Tasting Notes:
“This show stopping white displays effusive aromas of white flower, stone fruit, honey and toast which erupt into opulent flavours of pear, orange blossom, caramel and spice. It’s a world class wine offering that strikes a brilliant balance between lush fruit and crisp, mouth-watering acidity.”

“Wine Spectator” Tasting Notes: 92 Points
“A broad, creamy, honeyed version, with an alluring toasted hazelnut accent framing the core of creamed peach, apricot and melon flavors. The long finish lets matchstick and dried quince notes in. Not shy in style. Drink now through 2019.”

“Wine Enthusiast” Tasting Notes: 92 Points
This is a lush, creamy Chenin, brimming with rich notes of honeycomb, honeydew, ripe peach and orange cream. The palate is full and toasty, though ample acidity helps to keep the mouthfeel bright. Notes of baking spice and toasted nuts unfold on the back and linger long on the close. It’s delicious now, but should hold and evolve well through 2021.
