2014 Barnett “Sangiacomo Vineyard” Chardonnay (Carneros)
$35/bottle Winery Retail – SPECIAL PRICING AVAILABLE AT TASTING
Winery Tasting Notes: “This Chardonnay from the Sangiacomo Vineyard is a beautiful light gold shade. The nose is explosive with fresh pear, peach blossom and honeysuckle. As usual for this wine there is an underlying spiciness, in particular nutmeg. The palate is lush and round with richer notes of honeycomb, toffee and candy apple. The remaining malic acid (only 17% went to lactic) provides plenty of acidity to balance this rich wine. Although lively and fresh in its youth this wine will age wonderfully over the next 4-5 years (2018-2019).”
2015 Barnett “Tina Marie Vineyard” Pinot Noir (Green Valley)
$45/bottle Winery Retail – SPECIAL PRICING AVAILABLE AT TASTING
Winery Tasting Notes: “The 2015 Tina Marie has a beautiful crimson colored core and ruby colored rim. The aromatics are amazingly complex, with layers of cherry blossom, white pepper, red currants and cranberry tart. The classic Tina Marie gravel minerality is also apparent. The palate is silky and soft with bright cherry, pomegranate and clove. The rounded tannins are wonderfully balanced with the fresh acidity. This is a beautiful wine that can be enjoyed in it youth but would benefit from 5-6 years in the cellar (2021-2022).”
2013 Barnett “Spring Mountain” Merlot (Napa Valley)
$65/bottle Winery Retail – SPECIAL PRICING AVAILABLE AT TASTING
Winery Tasting Notes:“The 2014 Merlot has a beautiful deep purple core and rim. There is great intensity to the aromatics, with dark plum and black cherries, complemented by caramel, menthol and anise. The palate is very silky and plush with more black cherry, crushed violets and baking spices. The tannins are chalky but integrated into this sizeable wine, and the mountain acidity is bright and balanced. This opulent flavorful Merlot will definitely benefit from those with patience over the next 12-13 years (2028-2029).”
Wine Advocate Notes: 92 Points “Lastly, the 2013 Merlot is a beauty. Rich, concentrated, fleshy and fat, this wine from their own vineyard displays plenty of berry fruit, judicious use of toasty oak and a long finish. This is sexy, plump and succulent. Drink it over the next decade or more.”
2013 Barnett “Spring Mountain” Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)
$75/bottle Winery Retail – SPECIAL PRICING AVAILABLE AT TASTING
Winery Tasting Notes: “The 2013 Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon jumps out from the glass. Immense amounts of blackberry, blueberry pie and rich chocolate dominate. Secondary elements of sweet char, caramel and wet earth is also apparent. This wine is round and plush with black currant, caramel and sweet chocolate on the complex palate. The tannins are fuller this year, providing a wonderful backbone to the wine which is complemented by the mountain acidity. The black currant continues on the long finish. This is an age worthy vintage, necessitating 15-16 years in the cellar or a big peppered steak in its youth (2030-2031).”
Wine Advocate Notes: 94 Points “The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc aged in 70% in new French oak, is impressive. Pure black raspberry and blackcurrant fruit are present in this full-bodied, opulent, but nicely delineated and vibrant wine. The wine has a lot of sappy energy, wonderful freshness and a full-bodied mouthfeel with a long finish. It’s accessible now, but promises to be better in 5-7 years and evolve for 25.”
