2014 Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc (RRV)
$44.95/bottle – SPECIAL PRICING AVAILABLE AT TASTING
Wine Spectator Notes: 93 Points “Succulent, lush and rich, with fleshy mango, melon and peach flavors up front, leading to a core of pineapple, lemon and honeysuckle notes. The smoky edge and nervy acidity weave in and out, giving this a fresh finish. Drink now. 9,500 cases made.”–MW
Wine Advocate Notes: 90 Points “The beautiful 2014 Sauvignon Blanc shows copious quantities of melons, a touch of honeysuckle, crisp, fresh acid and a touch of wet-rock minerality. It is floral, medium-bodied and loaded with fruit, all good characteristics. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.”
2013 Merry Edwards “SONOMA” Pinot Noir (RRV)
$55/bottle – SPECIAL PRICING AVAILABLE AT TASTING
Winery Tasting Notes: Forward and lively, this wine has an easy, inviting personality. Its feminine side shows dried rose petals and violets along with ripe, luscious strawberries, red raspberries, huckleberries and fresh berry compote. Its masculine dimension adds black currant, savory chanterelle, cardamom, oolong tea and sweet tobacco to the mix. All this is wrapped in a mantle of subtle, well-integrated French oak hinting of warm brown spices. The palate is balanced and seamless, bright yet silky, juicy with a hint of minerality. Tannins are smooth and lush in the mouth, complemented by good acidity. There is hidden power behind its gentle exterior, indicating a long future for this Pinot Noir.
Wine Advocate Notes: 90+ Points “An outstanding example of Pinot Noir, the 2013 Pinot Noir has a beautiful dark ruby color, nice earthy, plum, black cherry and berry scent, medium to full body, good acidity and ripe, well-integrated tannin. Merry Edwards has been making Pinot Noir for more than 40 years, so it is no surprise she hits the highlights with this varietal. This young, vibrant Pinot should age beautifully for 10-15 years.”
2014 Merry Edwards “RUSSIAN RIVER” Pinot Noir (RRV)
$60/bottle – SPECIAL PRICING AVAILABLE AT TASTING
Winery Tasting Notes: “This wine is delightfully forward, showing off a lifted aroma packed with ripe brambleberry, blueberry pie, blackberry jam, cassis and dark cherries. A generous allowance of new oak crafted by our favorite French coopers contributes a mosaic of spices − sweet Madagascar vanilla bean, anise, cinnamon, nutmeg and sandalwood. Dried porcini mushrooms, cola, caramel, cocoa, chai spice and a hint of Earl Grey tea complete the intricately layered profile.
In the mouth, lavish flavors magnify this Pinot’s bouquet. The entry is intense with weighty sweet tannins that are expansive and round, building to a full, lingering finish. This striking wine truly represents Russian River at its yummy best!”
2013 Merry Edwards “MEREDITH ESTATE” Pinot Noir
$80/bottle – SPECIAL PRICING AVAILABLE AT TASTING
Winery Tasting Notes: “On first impression, this Pinot expresses a rich perfume reminiscent of fraises des bois enhanced with scents of violets, ripe blueberries and fresh rose blossoms. Accents of cardamom, toffee, pepper, cherry cola and anise add exotic notes. Deeper strata reveal a ripe, dark berry core with restrained toasty, savory and gamey undertones.
On the first sip, this elegant yet bold wine shows a ripe entry, dense with black fruit. Its profile displays a fine balance with firm, bright acidity and smooth yet weighty tannins. The mouth-filling viscosity is luscious and silky, leading to a long, full finish. As this Pinot spends time in the glass, it follows its predecessors in revealing its potential for longevity.”
Wine Spectator Notes: 93 Points “The 2013 Pinot Noir Meredith Estate has a saturated ruby/purple color, beautiful black raspberry and blueberry-like fruit, underlying loamy soil tones, medium to full body, beautiful ripeness purity and depth. Like its siblings it is young, and still somewhat unformed but bursting with upside potential. Forget it for another year or so and drink it over the following 15+ years.”
