Our 4 Star Review

Some notable dates:

Carpe Vino Vacations. . .You Save Big!

We’re closing the wine shop and restaurant the week of June 29th through the Fourth of July weekend, and before we leave on vacation, we’re running a storewide sale on June 26 and 27: save 20% on any in-stock wine. Select from any of your favorites—anything from Rombauer Chardonnay to Pisoni Pinot Noir, it all qualifies. Stock up on crowd-pleasing party wines, too.
Special order wines do not qualify for discounts. . .the wine must be on our shelves, but we’ve got a great selection in stock. So come in next Friday and Saturday and help clear out our bins!

We close the restaurant and wine bar for a week in the summer each year so we can give our hard-working staff a much-need mid-year break. So, we will not be taking any reservations for dinner starting June 30th. We reopen on July 7th.

Casque Celebrates New Releases on June 25th with Wine & Music

One of our favorite, emerging wineries in Placer County is Casque, a virtual operation owned by the Stevenson and Bruenig families of Clos du Lac in Loomis. The whole crew will be in Carpe Vino on June 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. to celebrate the release of Casque’s newest white wines. We’ll be tasting the 2008 vintages of the Casque Calotte Blanc (a blend of viognier, marsanne, roussanne and vermentino) and the Casque Viognier. We’ll also have three other Casque wines available for tasting: the 2007 Calotte Blanc (winner of Best of Class for White Rhones in the prestigious 2009 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition) and two reds: the 2006 Syrah and 2005 Cabernet Franc.

Placer $5 Wine Tasting

The concept is simple: come in before 5 p.m. any day Carpe Vino is open, and we’ll pour you one ounce each of any five wines we have open for just $5.

We have been making some changes at Carpe Vino and one of the biggest is the addition of our new Placer and Beyond Tasting Room. We now have more than 50 wines from 11 different wineries from Placer, Nevada and El Dorado counties.

The idea is simple…we want our customers to have easy access to some of the best wineries right here in our own backyard. Each day we are open throughout all hours, we’ll pour one ounce of any five wines from our Placer and Beyond tasting menu for just $5.

SacBee Restaurant Review
We’re Seeing Stars.
Four of Them!

After a long-anticipated second visit to Carpe Vino, the Sacramento Bee’s veteran restaurant, wine and food editor, Mike Dunne, has spoken. “Classy and civil” Carpe Vino earns four stars, the only restaurant in Placer County currently distinguished with the newspaper’s highest rating.

We’ve been in business for more than six years now—two and one half of that engaged in fine dining—and Dunne’s distinction is the culmination of untold hours of labor coupled with a financial and personal investment that I dare not calculate. To characterize as a “struggle” all of the effort that went into building Carpe Vino would be an understatement.
